Karen Freeman, C.P.N.P

Karen Freeman
Karen Freeman was raised in Washington and Idaho.  She went to Brigham Young University in Utah and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing in 1997.

As a nurse, she developed a love of pediatrics while working at Primary Children's Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.  She worked in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit.  She cared for children of all ages with a variety of diagnoses.  She was a member of the breastfeeding support team.

After a few years of working, she went back to school, this time to the rival school of the University of Utah.  In 2005, she completed a master's degree in nursing, specializing in pediatrics.  Her master's project was an instructional breastfeeding video in Spanish.  She certified as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.

Karen has been working for Desert Valley Pediatrics as a nurse practitioner since October 2005.  She enjoys the children and the spice they bring into life.  She speaks Spanish and appreciates working with the hispanic/latin population.  Other areas of interest include breastfeeding and newborn care.

She lives with her husband and daughter.
